GAZA EMERGENCY
The Gaza conflict has now persisted for over a year, causing an immense humanitarian crisis. More than 42,000 Palestinians have tragically lost their lives, including thousands of women and children. The ongoing violence has also left nearly 100,000 people injured and has led to critical shortages of basic necessities, including food, water, and medical supplies, according to the United Nations.
LEBANON EMERGENCY
Lebanon, which is also plagued by economic crisis, is hosting 2.1 million Syrian refugees, and also 300,000 Palestinian refugees. 88% of refugees live in poverty, struggling to cope. The country has been facing a deep financial crisis since 2019.This was exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic in recent years and, in August 2020, the devastating explosion in the Beirut port, which ripped the city to shreds and opened wounds for a fragile population which is already facing civil unrest.
